Photography Journey & Experience

I am Wang Taigang, of Han ethnicity, born in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province in 1962. I later moved to Dalian for work and have been living there ever since. I worked as a senior engineer in state-owned enterprise management. Photography is my amateur passion. My serious photography journey began in 2009 when I purchased a Nikon D60 DSLR camera. In the early days, I was highly enthusiastic, shooting a wide variety of subjects without a clear focus. I then started buying photography books and learning from photography websites. The breathtaking landscapes of American national parks like Yellowstone and Arches inspired me, so I set my sights on Dalian Coastal National Geopark, hoping to capture its beauty perfectly with my camera. This idea took hold of me, and I have been photographing for years ever since.

The rocks in Dalian Jinshitan Geopark are unique — some have distinctive textures, while others are named for their animal-like shapes. The most striking feature is their golden color. I love searching for awe-inspiring natural landscapes and losing myself in the joy of the creative process. Over the years, through continuous learning and practice, my vision and creativity have steadily improved. I have developed a unique approach to slow-shutter photography, composition, and lighting, showcasing Dalian's local culture and breathtaking scenery from multiple perspectives.

Focus leads to professionalism. Since 2011, my photographic works have been published multiple times in magazines such as Chinese Photography, Popular Photography, Digital Photography, Photo World, and Capaa. I have also won over 100 awards in international and domestic photography competitions. In 2013, I was honored to become a member of the China Photographers Association.

For over a decade, my love for landscape, scenic, and architectural photography has never wavered. Exploring new creative styles and subjects continues to drive me forward on my photographic journey.
